Browser based visualization of molecules

Web browsers have come a long way since the first Nexus browser thanks to WebGL. WebGL applications separates the step of Polygon generation and Actual rendering as polygon generation is done only once by CPU while rendering is done by the dedicated graphics processors. GLmol is one such tool (released under LGPL3) to visualize molecules using Three.js, a cross-browser JavaScript library/API. One can embed multiple instances of GLmol in a page and use javascript to customize molecular representation. Thus visualization of molecules takes advantage of fast in-browser 3D graphics capabilities available through WebGL without any help from third-party proprietary browser plugins.
