I attended my first conference this week, which was the 11th World Congress on Computational Mechanics (WCCM XI) in Barcelona, Spain. The conference was a week long and was attended by over 3,000 people!
I gave my presentation on the first day of the conference to a packed crowd. My work on molecular dynamics pre-simulations for nano fluidic computational fluid dynamics went down well and there was plenty of insightful questions afterwards. Having given my presentation early on, I was able to spend the rest of the week enjoying other peoples talks and exploring Barcelona. One such talk, by Henrik Rusche, was very interesting to the work our research group, he described a hybrid continuum-particle solver developed within OpenFOAM, a paper on this can be found here and they even cite some of the work done by our research group!
Here is a picture of me at the congress banquet with some of the entertainment.
